Q3 contract prices of PC DRAM are up 3-8% up on Q2 – less than the 25% increase of Q2 on Q1, says TrendForce.
The gradual lifting of COVID-related restrictions in Europe and the US is likely to lower the overall demand for notebook computers, thereby pulling down the overall demand for PC DRAM.
TrendForce therefore forecasts a 0-5% QoQ decline in PC DRAM contract prices for 4Q21.
Spot prices of DRAM modules have been falling since May and were 32% down by August 3rd and are Now lower than contract prices for 3Q21 by almost as much as 20% and are unlikely to experience a price hike in the short run.
For Q4, TrendForce expects PC shipments, particularly Chromebook shipments, to remain in a downward trajectory following increased vaccinations in Europe and the US leading to a decline in both contract prices PC and graphics DRAM.
Server and mobile Q4 DRAM prices are expected to stay flat.
