Amazon offers to provide Prime subscribers prescription medications for a flat flee of just $5 per month

Wednesday, January 25, 2023

Amazon is offering to provide Prime subscribers with access to a wide range of prescription medications for a flat flee of just $5 per month.

The Prime add-on subscription is called RxPass and it's being offered through Amazon Pharmacy. Once subscribed, Amazon will deliver generic prescription medications either monthly or quarterly to treat more than 80 common conditions including high blood pressure, anxiety, or acid reflux. If you're unsure if a particular medication is available, check the full list(Opens in a new window) RxPass provides access to or search by condition.

Amazon says it's launching RxPass to "help patients save time, save money, and stay healthy" and claims the cost saving for customers is as high as 68% per medication. There's also no need to use your insurance—just sign-up, add your prescriptions, and wait for your medication to be delivered. If you have questions, Amazon Pharmacy offers a dedicated prescriber line you can call (855-206-3605).

A Prime subscription is required before RxPass can be used, and Prime members in most US states can take advantage of this new subscription. However, "customers who are enrolled in Medicare, Medicaid, or any other government health care program will not be able to enroll in RxPass." For any prescription medication not eligible for RxPass, Amazon Pharmacy should still be able to provide them through E-Scribe.
