GTA Semiconductor of Shanghai, the Chinese auto IC manufacturer, has raised $1.8 billion to bring the amount it has raised in the last two years to $2.7 billion with most of it coming from the government.
The company has two manufacturing facilities in Shanghai capable of 70k 150mm wpm and 110k 200mm wpm.
A fab capable of running 43k 300mm wpm is under construction.
The company makes MCU, analogue and MEMS, PMICs, power discretes (IGBT, SGT, FRD, TVS, etc.) and SiC power discretes for auto, industrial and high end consumer applications.
It has 650V/750V/1200V SiC JBS and 650V/750V/1200V SiC MOSFET technologies with, it says, independent proprietary rights.
China is about to launch a state-backed fund which aims to raise $40 billion for chip investments.
