MediaTek has boosted the performance in its second generation WiFi7 chipsets built on 6nm technology.

The Mediatek Filogic 860 combines a WiFi 7 dual-band access point with three ARM Cortex-A73 cores and hardware acceleration for advanced tunneling and security features.

The chip supports 4096-QAM modulation with speeds up to 7.2Gbit/s and dual-band, dual concurrent capabilities with 4T4R for 2.4GHz up to BW40 and 5T5R 4SS for 5GHz up to BW160. The dual-band design includes a 4×4 2.4GHz antenna array, plus a novel 5×5 5/6GHz antenna including a dedicated Rx for 0-DFS detection.

There is also support for an additional receive antenna for zero-wait DFS for enterprise access points, service provider Ethernet gateways and mesh nodes, as well as retail and IoT router applications.

The Filogic 360 is a stand-alone client solution that integrates WiFi 7 2×2 and dual Bluetooth 5.4 radios in a single chip for edge devices, streaming devices and a vast array of other consumer electronics.

The chip can use all three WiFI7 bands with speeds up to 2.9Gbit/s using the same 4096-QAM modulation with 160MHz channel bandwidth support.

MediaTek WiFi and Bluetooth coexistence technology ensures both technologies can operate on the 2.4 GHz band seamlessly, without interference.

The MediaTek Filogic 860 and Filogic 360 solutions have begun sampling to customers and mass production is anticipated for mid-2024.
