Apple has dipped its toe into smart home products with the HomePod and HomeKit platform, but it's now eyeing the launch of its own home security camera, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
The company is "making its first foray into the smart home IP camera market, with mass production scheduled for 2026," Kuo tweeted.
In a blog post, Kuo adds that Apple has chosen AirPods manufacturer Goertek Inc. as the exclusive supplier for its security cameras. The sales target is "tens of millions of units per year," he says. Global shipments of security cameras currently stand at 30-40 million units a year.
As with any Apple product, the security cameras will communicate seamlessly with other Apple hardware and support some Siri and Apple Intelligence features, Kuo adds.
After axing its car project, Apple sees the home robot as a new product category and source of revenue, according to Bloomberg, which says Apple is also developing a tabletop home robot with a motorized base capable of rotating the iPad-like display on top and a "thin robotic arm" that controls the screen. However, it's not expected until 2026 or 2027.
