TSMC’s 2nm yield has passed 60%, the level required for stable high volume manufacturing, reports the Taiwan Economic Daily.
Samsung’s 2nm yield is reported to be 40%.
TSMC 2nm yield crosses 60% threshold for HVMThe disparity has pushed big clients like AMD, Mediatek, Qualcomm, Nvidia ,Apple and Google to reserve capacity at TSMC.
No major customers have been reported for Samsung 2nm and there are claims that TSMC could get 75% of the foundry market next year up from 70% this year.
It is being said that TSMC’s price for a 2nm wafer is near to $30,000 and when it moves to 1.4nm in 2028, the cost could go up to around $45,000.
