Google Calendar is now on Apple Watch, and you can download it to your wrist today if you have a compatible device.

This is only the fourth Google service to come to the Apple Watch, despite many of the company’s services being available across other platforms like iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

As spotted by 9toGoogle, the Calendar app landed with relatively little fanfare from either Apple or Google via the 25.24.1 update. Google has kept things light for its Apple Watch app, much like how it works on Wear OS. For example, you can't edit or add new events from your wrist. Instead, it'll open the app up on your iPhone for you to make changes.

It's designed to be a list of your upcoming events, with color-coded cards for each appointment, which you can press for more details. It'll then open out to show you the address and any additional notes alongside the name, time, and date.

The app update brings with it two new complications for watch faces, allowing you to easily see your next event from your wrist.

Google hasn't brought any new services to Apple Watch in over five years. Google Maps came first in 2015 before being removed in 2017. It returned in September 2020. The other two services are Google Keep and YouTube Music, which came to Apple Watch in 2019 and 2020, respectively. (Update 7/1: It looks like Google yanked the Keep app from the Apple Watch ahead of the Notes app coming to Apple Watch with watchOS 26.)

Could this be a sign that Google will bring more of its services to Apple Watch? Gmail, Home, Photos, and Fit all have iPhone counterparts, for example, and they're also available as Wear OS apps on the competing service. The similarities between Calendar on the Apple Watch and Wear OS suggest it's a relatively simple process for Google to port over its app.
