TSMC will break ground in October on a $49bn Fab 25 site for its 1.4nm process, reports Taiwan’s Economic News Daily.
Trial production on 1.4nm is scheduled for the end of 2027 at the first of the four fabs that will make up the Fab 25.complex.
Fab 25 will be at at the Central Taiwan Science Park located near Taichung City. All four fabs will run the 1.4nm process and be capable of producing 50k wpm.

This facility will house four plants, with the initial fab slated to begin trial production by the end of 2027 and volume production in H2 2028.
TSMC’s 1.4nm process, its second generation GAA process, has more than 20% logic density compared to the 2nm process and delivers up to 15% higher performance at the same power as the 2nm process or up to 30% lower power consumption with the same performance.
The Economic News Daily speculates that the price of a 1.4nm wafer could be $45,000
