Nanya Technologies, Taiwan's largest memory-chip maker, reported its October sale's reached NT$3.3 billion, up by 400 percent compared to same period of last year at NT$ 661.6 million.
Nanya also reported its net profits of NT$799 million for the first three quarters of 2002, while its five Taiwanese competitors yielded a combined net loss of NT$16 billion. The profit most generated from its data rate (DDR) dynamic random access memory (DRAM), which the market demand rising on monthly basis.
Other Taiwanese memory makers like Winbond saw its average sale prices rise by 10%, allowing it to reduce its losses to NT$283 million in the third quarter from NT$2.139 billion in the previous quarter. Mosel Vitelic’s accumulated net loss of NT$7.973 billion for the first nine months of 2002 already exceeded its full-year forecast of a net loss of NT$7.642 billion. It is expected to lower its full-year financial forecast a second time. Powerchip Semiconductor Corporation reported third-quarter pre-tax loss of NT$963 million.
