LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics are locked in heated competition over LCD monitor products.
According to market sources, the LCD market will be driven by large-sized LCDs.
In a bid to penetrate the fast-growing market, Samsung said it will focus on production of monitors ranging from 17 inches and larger.
The LCD market is expected to grow to 1.7 million units.
LG Electronics also is planning to release a 22.1-inch LCD monitor for PCs at the end of this year in a bid to diversify the product line-up. A large LCD monitor is priced at 1 million won.
