Advanced Micro Devices Inc., Sunnyvale, Calif., has delayed the start of 90nm chip production at its Dresden, Germany, fab from the second half of this year to the first half of 2003, according to its newly released processor roadmap.
Three new 32/64-bit processors are identified on the roadmap, including 90nm versions of the Opteron, named Athens; the Athlon desktop chip, dubbed San Diego; and a new mobile Athlon, the Odessa.
The first Opteron device and 32/64-bit desktop Athlon will be introduced in the first half of next year using 130nm processing.
