TI said it expects Q4 revenue 2002 to be better than it previously estimated in October.
TI now expects only a 2 percent sequential decline in its semiconductor revenue from $1.8 billion, instead of the 5 percent decline previously anticipated. Overall revenue is expected to drop only 7 percent instead of 10 percent, with TI citing the seasonal drop in calculator shipments. This would result in Q4 revenue of about $2.1 billion. For Q4 2001, the company reported revenue of $1.8 billion.
Earnings are also expected to see improvement, with the company reporting a GAAP net income of about 1 cent per share, and a pro forma net income of 3 cents per share.
"The improvement in fourth-quarter expectations comes primarily from stronger demand for our wireless and high-performance analog products," said Bill Aylesworth, TI’s CFO, in a statement.
Analysts expect Intel to also revise upward its Q4 outlook, in its mid-quarter update on Thursday.
