Ex-Transmeta employees indicted for stealing trade secrets


Friday, December 6, 2002 A U.S. federal court indicted two former employees from Transmeta for allegedly stealing trade secrets in the microprocessor field.

The two former employees from Transmeta were allegedly stealing trade secrets in an effort to develop competitive processor technology in China,
the individuals, Fei Ye and Ming Zhong, also allegedly stole trade secrets from NEC, Sun Microsystems, and Trident.

"For more than a year we have worked closely and productively with U.S. law enforcement to prevent any actual loss of our intellectual property or advanced processor technology and to pursue prosecution of the conduct alleged in yesterday's indictment," said John O. Horsley, vice president and general counsel for Transmeta, in a statement.
