DDR333 spot prices went up 7% last week from US$6.84 to US$7.32 and the rise is likely to continue through the end of December, reported Taiwanese DRAM distributors.
DRAMeXchange attributed the rise in DDR333 prices to low supply in the spot market as few DRAM makers have completed verification with OEMs. Those that have, like Samsung Electronics, tend to sell most of their DDR333 directly to OEMs, leaving little for the spot market.
DRAM module makers reported that the difficulty in getting DDR333 SDRAM supply in the spot market has forced them not able to fulfill the DDR333 module orders.
