Silicon wafer demand will increase beginning from the second half of 2003 to 2004, mainly driven by a renew demand for electronics device products and 300mm wafer, according to Dataquest, a Gartner company.
Some 300mm fab projects are delaying because of capital spending butback by semiconductor vendors. However. But demand will increase in the second half of 2003, the company said.
The current 300mm wafer demand is estimated at approximately 200,000 per month and will grow to 440,000-450,000 per month in the fourth quarter of 2003.
Major suppliers for the 300mmh wafer will be from Taiwan.
