On the back of rising demand amid the year-end season, the global TFT-LCD market is expected to grow 50 percent compared with last year.
According to a recent survey by a group called Display Research, the market is expected to rise 11.5 percent to 18 million units during the fourth quarter, from the third quarter.
Overall market size during the whole year will grow by 50 percent to 68 million units, the market research institute said.
Korea, which is home to LG.Philips LCD Co., Ltd. (19.7 percent) and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (18.2 percent), is said likely to obtain 40.9 percent of the global market during the fourth quarter, making it the largest LCD producing country, beating Taiwan (34.5 percent) and Japan (24.7 percent).
In relation to the notebook LCD market, Samsung ranked first with 22.8 percent, followed by LG.Philips LCD with 19.5 percent.
