Silicon Integrated Systems SiS) and United Microelectronics Corp. have reached a preliminary settlement in a patent dispute, according to Taiwanese reports.
The two companies are to cooperate in production capacity and process technology in the future and engage in a mutual technology licensing the report said.
UMC had acted as foundry for SiS until the Taiwanese chipset designer set up its own fab. In December 2004 a series of patent dispute legal filings between the two began in court in San Jose, California
