Samsung wins telecom orders from Indonesia

Friday, December 27, 2002 Samsung Electronics said that it won an order worth US$200 million to supply CDMA2000-type wireless telecom equipment to Indonesia's state-run PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia.

The company said it will supply the equipment over the next three years.

"We hope that our equipment will contribute in modernizing Indonesia's telecom network," a Samsung Electronics official said Dec. 25.

Korean telecom service and equipment manufacturers will likely win more orders in Indonesia in hand with this order, industry watchers forecasted.

Just recently, Korea Telecom Corp. won an order worth US$73 million with Telkom Indonesia to participate in establishing an e-government network in the country.
