Processor and chipset builder Via Technologies Inc. filed a further complaint against Intel Corp. with Taiwan's Fair Trade Commission on December 24, 2002, according to a report in Taiwan's Digitimes.
The December 24 complaint accuses Intel of unfair competition and the report cites sources saying that Advanced Micro Devices Inc. may join Via as plaintiffs in the case.
In the future, VIA reportedly said it would not rule out bringing a similar complaint in the US.
The legal dispute between Via and Intel hinges on Via's refusal to pay Intel Pentium 4-platform licensing fees in 2001, and now includes several patent infringement as well as unfair competition cases.
