Intel this week launched six new mobile processors, including its fastest chip to date a 2.4-GHz version of its Pentium 4 processor line.
Intel also introduced other mobile-based chips, including two new Pentium III processors, three Celeron chips, and an integrated graphics chip set for notebook computers.
The high-end notebook processor, called the Mobile Intel Pentium 4 Processor-M, runs at speeds of 2.4-GHz. It is geared for full-size, thin-and-light, and desktop-replacement notebook PCs. Based on 0.13-micron technology, the processor is $562, in 1,000-unit lots.
The new chip set, dubbed the 852GM, works in conjunction with the mobile versions of the Pentium 4 and Celeron processors. The chip set supports the 200/266-MHz versions of double-data-rate (DDR) SDRAM memory, a 400-MHz system bus, and six Universal Serial Bus (USB) 2.0 ports.
The chip set also supports advanced mobile power management features that help extend battery life, including Enhanced Intel SpeedStep, Deep Sleep and Deeper Sleep technologies.
Intel also rolled out 900- and 933-MHz versions of its Pentium III-M line, which sell for $209 each, in 1,000-unit lots. It also introduced a 2-GHz Celeron processor, a 866-MHz low-voltage Celeron, and a 800-MHz ultra-low-voltage Celeron. Prices are $149, $134, and $144, respectively, in 1,000-unit lots.
