Cirrus Logic has begun a 10 percent layoff that will cost the company about 100 workers.
While a spokesperson for the analog and DSP chip company said that the reduction will be global, hitting its employees in Europe, Asia, Japan
and the U.S., 67 of those laid off will be from Cirrus' Austin, Texas, location. No specific job task was targeted, the spokesperson added.
Warning investors that bad news was on the way, Cirrus in Decemberlowered its fiscal Q3 guidance, ended Dec. 28, 2002, to be between $58
million and $62 million, down from the $73.3 million reported in its Q2.
