Henry Nicholas III, a founder and CEO at Broadcom Corp., has resigned. He is taking time off to deal with "serious family matters," according to a quote attributed to him in a company statement.
The resignation was effective immediately, according to Bill Blanning, senior director of corporate communications. .
Chief operating officer Alan Ross is taking over as president and CEO while the company searches for a permanent president and CEO, according to the statement.
Nicholas will serve out his current term as co-chairman of Broadcom's board, which ends in May, and will continue to provide technical and industry expertise as needed, the statement said.
