The value of 256Mb DDR DRAMs plunged to record lows on Feb. 6, according to DRAMeXchange.COM, an online semiconductor brokerage.
DRAMeXchange.COM said that the value of 256Mb DDR DRAMs dropped to US$3.90, falling below US$4 for the first time ever.
The value of 256Mb DDR DRAMs stood at US$7.46 a year earlier, and swung up to the US$9 level during the latter half of 2002.
However, increased output of chips by Samsung Electronics and Taiwan's chipmakers dragged chip prices lower.
Meanwhile, analysts are forecasting that the price of DDR DRAMs will regain stability after manufacturers run out of inventory, but will weaken in April-May.
