United Microelectronics Corp. today announced a near 35 percent jump in January sales year-over-year.
Revenues of $156 million (5.4 billion Taiwanese dollars) outshined January 2002's $115 million (4 billion TWD).
The foundry looks to be starting 2003 off right. At one month into Q1, UMC is more than a quarter of the way to its Q4 2002 revenue of $504 million (17.54 billion TWD). That saw an 8.4 percent sequential decline from Q3, and was a factor in UMC's prediction for a utilization rate dip and sequentially flat wafer shipments and ASPs.
