German ACG Group divested smart card subsideries

Friday, February 14, 2003
Advanced Component Group (ACG) AG, Wiesbaden, Germany, has divested the microIDENTT AG subsidiary cubit electronics GmbH (cubit). microIDENTT AG is one of three divisions at ACG, an independent component and technology supplier focused on the smart card, radio frequency identification, and semiconductor markets.

Cubit, Erfurt, Germany, a subsidiary specializing in manufacturing and marketing of components used in contactless smart cards and smart labels, was acquired by a private investor. ACG declined to disclose information on the terms of the sale.

ACG did say negotiations are underway to divest the remaining three microIDENTT subsidiaries, including AEG Ident, Multitape and NedCard, and outsource manufacturing for the cards. The move is expected to reduce expenses for the parent company.
