President Yang Yuan Qing of the Legend Group based in mainland China has recently come to Taiwan to meet top Taiwanese information technology (IT) products suppliers. According to the 2003 forecast, Legend will increase more than 50 percent that worth NT$45 billion from last year import.
Yang will meet top executives from local firms including First International Computer (FIC) Elitegroup (ECS), Quanta, Mitac, Compal, Wistron, Gigabyte Technology and other companies.
Meanwhile, International Data Corp. (IDC), a U.S.-based research firm, recently released the list of top-selling personal computer (PC) brands in the non-Japan Asia in the fourth quarter of last year. Legend of mainland China remained at the top of the list, followed by three U.S. brands: Hewlett Packard (HP), IBM, and Dell. Two other Chinese brands are Founder Group and Tsinghua Tongfan ranked fifth and eighth top ten lists.
The IDC attributed the growth mainly to surging demand in mainland China, Australia, and India.
