Infineon Technologies is forming a joint venture with Saifun Semiconductor of Israel to produce flash memory chips.
The new firm, called Infineon Technologies Flash GmbH, will be headquartered in Dresden and is expected to start initial production in the second half of this year.
Infineon said the facility will utilize the existing 200mm wafer fab equipment and use Saifun's NROM technology that can be used for both data content and program flash functions, a combination of NAND and NOR flash capabilities.
