Samsung Electronics, Hynix Semiconductor and Infineon Technologies announced that their 256Mbit DDR400 have passed Intel’s validation test on the new Springdale chipsets.
The companies said sample and volume quantities are now avaiable.
Samsung executive said in a statement that “Samsung has long been the driving force behind DDR400; we were the first to announce the device, and the first to ship in volume. Today, we are confident that Samsung has the capacity in place to meet the fast growing demand for DDR400 expected from the introduction of Intel’s Springdale.”
Hynix, on the other hand, projected DDR400 to exceed 30% of DDR demand by 4Q 2003. The company expects over 50% of consumer desktop PCs to adopt the DDR400 standard by the second half of the year.
Infineon are now shipping 256Mbit DDR400.
