DDR contract prices has reportedly fell nearly 20% towards late February whereas SDRAM spot prices saw a 10% jump this week.
Contract prices for 256Mbit DDR sinked nearly 20% to between US$3.65 and US$4.25 since beginning of the month. Contract prices for 128Mbit DDR also dropped about 17-22% to between US$1.75 and US$2.25, according to DRAMeXchange
Contract prices for 256Mbit and 128Mbit SDRAMs remained flat at US$5 and US$3 respectively. However, spot prices for SDRAM on Thursday saw a jump of close to 11% for 256Mbit products to an average of nearly US$3.50.
Some market analysts predict that early March DDR contract prices were likely to fall another 10-15% to align with the already falling spot prices due to weaker demand.
As Intel pushes the DDR400 standard, DDR demand will increase.
