Infineon Technologies AG said on Wednesday it was considering a plan to move its corporate headquarters out of Germany.
"No decision has been taken yet," a spokeswoman from Infineon was quoted as saying in a weekly magazine called Stern, the report said. The German chip maker is currently deciding to move to Switzerland, Singapore or the United States to escape the high tax and regulatory burden on companies in Germany, the report said.
"I could imagine that the decision could come before the supervisory board this year," Infineon Chief Executive Ulrich Schumacher was quoted as saying in an article, the report said. "It's about our ability to compete. I'd rather spend money on research and development and good new staff than on high taxes," he said in the article, the report added.
