The flash memory market topped $7.77 billion in 2002 with NOR-flash and NAND-flash market valued at $5.58 billion and $2.25 billion respectively, according to market research firm Semico Research Corp.
The 2002 NOR-flash market was dominated by Intel, Semico said, with the chip giant scoring almost three times to $2 billion or as much sales revenue as second-placed Advanced Micro Devices Inc.
As for NAND-flash, Samsung is the top producer with sales close to 1 billion, followed by Toshiba at $668 million, according to the firm.
