Toshiba unveiled a 2Gbit NAND flash memory, double the density of the its current NAND chip, with volume production expected to start in June.
The new NAND chip was the combine effort by Toshiba and SanDisk and will be produced at a joint venture fab of the two firms in Yokkaichi, Japan, using 0.13 micron technology process, said the company.
The stacked TSOP package with 4Gbit density will begin sampling in April, the company said. Using the stacked part, a flash card can reach 16Gbytes in capacity.
