Peter Schaefer, formerly vice president of memory products for Infineon Technologies North America, San Jose, Calif., has been named corporate vice president and general manager of the firm's new Infineon Flash Technologies GmbH subsidiary in Dresden, Germany.
The new subsidiary is a collaboration of Infineon and Saifun Semiconductor of Israel and will make flash memory chips based on Saifun's NROM technology at a 200mm wafer fab of the German chipmaker in Dresden.
Schaefer will be succeeded in the U.S. operation by Bernd Lienhard, who has been vice president and general manager of Infineon's advanced sensor business unit in the Automotive and Industrial Products group.
