HP wins $100 Million with Irish goverment


Thursday, March 27, 2003 Hewlett-Packard said today it has won a deal initially valued at $100 million to help the government of Northern Ireland connect 400,000 teachers and students to the Internet and to each other.

The program is aims to give every child from age 1 through college an e-mail address as well as access to a variety of virtual classrooms.

HP said the deal is one of the largest education projects in the world and also represents one of the largest installations of Microsoft Exchange ever. HP's services unit is working in collaboration with two smaller firms, software maker Hyperwave and Internet services company Amaze.
