NEC has decided to temporarily exit the PDA market in Japan due to weak sales and increase competition, sources from Japan said.
NEC’s subsidiary NEC Computer International will continue to manage the company’s PDA business in outside of Japan. The remaining lines are the existing MobilePro 200E, MobilePro 300E and MobilePro P300 models, sources added.
Taiwan’s Asustek Computer has stopped producing the MobilePro P300 for NEC. Whereas Mitac International is still supplying the MobilePro 200E and MobilePro 300E, said the source.
