Silicon Integrated Systems have received licensing from Intel to design chipsets for Pentium 4 processors using an 800-MHz front-side bus.
The agreement follows one last week in which Intel agreed to license similar technology to long-time rival Via Technologies, settling a long-running court battle that spanned 11 countries. Via walked away from the fight with a wide-ranging cross-licensing agreement, including a four-year license to design Intel-compatible chipsets.
SiS did not disclose any details of its arrangements with Intel. “Having a long term license to produce chipsets for Intel's Pentium 4 microprocessor has been an important element of SiS's business,” said Michael Chen, president and CEO of SiS, in a statement.
