Rambus reported increases in Quarter two revenue contributed by the two new Yellowstone and Redwood technologies.
March quarter results reflect $3.3 million in contract revenue.Royalties made up $24.8 million -- up 14 percent over the same period last year and up 2 percent sequentially -- primarily due to DDR memories and SDRAM memory controllers.
Net income for the March quarter was $5.1 million, compared to $6.7 million in Rambus' Q2 2002 and $5.5 million in Q1. Meanwhile, revenue was up 19 percent over the same period last year and up 9 percent sequentially to $28.1 million.
"This quarter reflects the progress that we are making with our new Yellowstone and Redwood interface solutions," said Geoff Tate, CEO of Rambus, in a statement. "The increase in both revenue and engineering spending is primarily driven by new contracts with Sony and Toshiba."
