Infineon Technologies A.G. Thursday said that Hewlett-Packard Co. has selected the German chipmaker's Trusted Platform Module for use to enhance desktop security in the HP d530 series of business PCs.
The Infineon security module is compliant with the Trusted Computing Group Main Specific 1.1b specifications for hardware and software in public encryption key systems. The trusted Platform module automatically checks the system integrity and can authenticate the platform to third parties if authorized by the primary user. It also stores private data, such as encryption keys and passwords.
Infineon said it worked closely with HP to develop the security management software for the d530 series desktop PCs.
