Transmeta Corp. today furthered its push into European embedded markets by signing three strategic agreements.
IO Technologies, Marek Micro and Technology Rescue are European-based design companies providing a support infrastructure for designers using Transmeta’s processors. The three European companies are designing embedded platforms using Transmeta chips. They typically resell systems they have built or sell plans of ready-to-manufacture systems.
“These design firms are already helping Transmeta to generate business opportunities in Europe in accordance with our geographic expansion goals and embedded market strategy,” said Matthew R. Perry, Transmeta’s president and CEO, in a statement. “We have a strong commitment to the region and European customers are recognizing the benefits of Transmeta’s processors for embedded systems.”
Santa Clara, Calif.-based Transmeta said the agreements reflect a growing number of embedded design opportunities in the European market, especially Germany.
“We are designing a variety of industrial embedded platforms that require the special combination of power efficiency, high performance and x86 compatibility that is characteristic of Transmeta’s processors,” said Rune Domsten, CEO, IO Technologies, in a statement. “Our customers are impressed with the capabilities provided by Transmeta’s technology.”
In April, Germany-based VoiceCom AG confirmed it would use Transmeta's Crusoe chip in a speech-controlled telephone dialing system for the small business market.
