Samsung Electronics maintained its position as the world's number one DRAM manufacturer during the first quarter of 2003, but Micron Technology, and Infineon Technologies have expanded their market share.
Samsung's market share stood at 31.1% on sales of US$1.119 billion, down 3.8 points on a quarterly comparison in terms of market share and a 23.2% drop in sales.
In comparison, Micron's market share stood at 19.6% on sale at US$736 million during the January-March period.
Infineon saw a rise in both sales and market share, with sales rising 14.5% to US$612.6 million and market share expanding to 17.1%.
Total sales in the world DRAM market stood at US$3.579 billion during the first quarter, down 13.6% on a yearly comparison.
