Intel released two new Celeron processors that will run at 2.5GHz and 2.6GHz, adding to the current processor line-up that aims at the low-cost, budget end of desktop PCs. Previously, the fastest Celeron was a 2.4GHz processor.
The processors use a 400MHz front-side system bus and include 128K of L2 cache memory. Available immediately to vendors, the 2.5GHz model runs $89 each in lots of a thousand, while the 2.6GHz processor costs $103 in the same quantities.
