Samsung Electronics reported net income of $960 million (1.13 trillion won) in the second quarter, a 30% down from the same period of 2002.
Revenue totaled $8.36 billion, up 2% sequentially , but down 1% from the year-ago quarter.
Semiconductor and LCD group had operating income of $484 million on revenue of $3.19 billion. Memory chip sales totaled $1.55 billion, and LCD sales were $925 million, a 42% gain over the second quarter of 2002.
The telecommunications network group had operating income of $467 million on revenue of $2.7 billion. The digital media network group had operating income of $33 million on revenue of $1.57 billion while the home appliance group had operating income of $2.5 million on sales of $824 million.
