Worldwide shipments of PCs in the second quarter were 32.8 million units, up 10 percent year-over-year, according to Gartner Group.
Dell Computer had taken a jump in its market share from 14.9 percent to 17.6 percent while Hewlett-Packard's market share rose to 19 percent from 18.5 percent, according to Gartner.
Nevertheless, Gartner said IBM's market share fell in the period, to 5.8 percent from 6.2 percent.
Another market research firm predicted a pretty similar numbers except that it said IBM's market share has increased slightly to 6.6 percent from 6.3 percent.
