Revenues grew at Sanmina-SCI

Tuesday, July 22, 2003

Contract electronics manufacturer Sanmina-SCI Corp. today reported that it generated $2.7 billion in revenue in its June quarter, posting a net loss of $12 million, or 2 cents per share.

Revenues were up slightly from the $2.6 billion in revenue it posted in the year ago period, but losses grew year over year. In the year-ago period Sanmina-SCI posted a net loss of $5 million, or 1 cent per share. Sequentially the company narrowed its losses; in the prior quarter it posted revenue of $2.4 billion for a net loss of $31.8 million, or 6 cents per share.

Excluding one-time items, on a pro forma basis Sanmina-SCI posted net income of $1.3 million, or 1 cent per share in the June quarter, its fiscal Q3. In the prior quarter the electronics manufacturing services provider posted a pro forma loss of $4 million, breaking even on a per share basis.

Sanmina-SCI projects September quarter revenue to be approximately $2.6 billion to $2.75 billion, and cash earnings per share to be between 1 cent and 3 cents per share on a pro forma basis before merger, integration, restructuring and other infrequent or unusual charges. The company announced last week that it was acquiring Newisys Inc., a server technology provider.
