Units sales of DVD recorders internally built-in with desktop or notebook jumped 550 percent to 209,959 during the first half of this year up from 32,297 last year, according to NPD Group.
Home entertainment DVD burners are also gaining in popularity with units sold hit 58,000 in first half of 2003 compared to 18,354 same period last year, NPD said.
The company said volume sales of DVD burner will continue to increase following the steady fall in price. NPD said average price for the home-deck DVD recorders wa s $2,300 in the beginning of 2001, $936 in 2002, and $568 in the first six months of this year.
