Winbond Electronics Corp. said Friday its net sales for the 2003 second quarter totaled NT$6,23 billion ($179 million), with the net loss totaling NT$791 million ($23 million) compared to a loss of NT$890 million ($25.8 million) last year.
Winbond's revenue for the second quarter of 2003 reflected a decrease of 7 percent compared to the first quarter of 2003. The decline was attributed a decrease of DRAM product shipments and average sale price.
Results for the second quarter showed a 14 percent decrease in memory business but an 8 percent increase in logic business. Winbond said 256-Mbit DDR spot pricing dropped by an average of 21 percent while overall ASP dipped 9 percent.
Winbond said its long term strategy of exiting from the commodity DRAM market remains unchanged.
