Agilent Technology reported a net loss of $1.56 billion, or $3.28 per share on revenue of $1.5 billion for its fiscal Q3. Excluding charges, the company would have reported a loss of $110 million, or 23 cents per share, Agilent said. The company had a loss of $223 million last year the same period. Orders and revenues came in at expectations, with earnings from operations near the top end of expectations, the company said. It is confident to achieve an operating breakeven cost structure of $1.45 billion and return to profitability in the fourth quarter.
"We are seeing more evidence of a sustainable upturn in semiconductor capital equipment, and in the underlying semiconductor markets," said Agilent executive. "Overall, the company anticipates a normal seasonal increase during the fiscal fourth quarter, with revenues in the range of $1.5 billion to $1.6 billion."
