AMD released a 2GHz chips Tuesday. The Opteron 846 and 146 models are manufactured in a 0.13-micron CMOS process technology, according to a news report. Apart from clock frequency gain there appear to be no other differences between AMD existing Series 800 Opteron processors.

The Opteron 846 model processor is available at a price of $3,199 in 1,000-unit quantities and that the Opteron 146 is priced at $669 in 1,000-unit quantities.
