Electronic component orders rose slightly in August after a few month of flat orders, according to Assemblies & Materials Association (ECA). The 12-month moving average, however, remains flat.
The company said the recent reports of U.S. gross domestic product grew by 3.1% in the second quarter is sent a good signal to the industry. The increase is more than double the 1.4% growth for both the first quarter of 2003 and the last quarter of 2002. The Commerce Department said spending on capital equipment and software rose by 8.2% in the second quarter, higher than the expected 7.5% growth.
