COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2003 have not been hurt by its postponement from June to September, as both exhibitors and visitors on the first day of the fair yesterday attached great importance to Asia's largest trade show.
According to analyst they think that Taiwan has a leading command position in manufacturing high-tech products worldwide. thus making COMPUTEX the most important event for high-tech companies.
According to TCA and CETRA, co- organizer of COMPUTEX TAIPEI, there were 9,568 buyers and foreign reporters on the first day of the show, compared to 9,253 last year.
According to CETRA, the number of exhibitors and booths broke a 22-year record. There are 1,241 local and foreign exhibitors this year, who have set up 2,419 booths because of the additional booth space in TWTC Hall 3 and TWTC Hall 1 Section H which is located at the second floor.
As I went around with my colleagues who are new to this sort of show, I cannot help but notice an atmosphere of warmth and excitement. Buyers were always on the move and looking left and right, trying to spot items that they would be able to purchase. For exhibitors, it was a sigh of relief that finally, COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2003 did push through.
As we talked to manufactures the first thing they would say is either "nice show" or "good work". In addition to a variety of computer components and peripherals, this year's event also features integrated-circuit (IC) design products and flat-panel displays for the first time.
COMPUTEX TAIPEI was originally scheduled for June but has to be postponed after rising concerns from manufacturers the SARS epidemic would keep both vendors and visitors and not discounting the fact that there were some countries that have issued travel warnings against Taiwan. The show is open for free to Buyers and it started September 22 and will end on September 26 at the Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Halls I, II and III.
